Saturday was a little nicer than the two previous days. Note the adjective, little. Cold rain showers passed through around 3PM just to make sure the rainy day streak stayed alive. Sunday looks to be similar with afternoon showers predicted once again. They say we could have a little sunshine earlier in the day. The coming week once again is a mixed bag. Monday looks to be the nicest day of the entire week. One of the forecast models shows 15 to 20cm of snow falling late Tuesday into Wednesday at this latitude. That is why the chains do not come off the tractor until after May 1. The only plus side is that the cold rain has slowed the appearance of the black flies. They are not out yet.
Name on your boat trailer? How about it will be towed and impounded by Bancroft towing if it is not and it will cost you $250 to get it back in the fall. Not a very complicated request.
Half load limits on the local roads are in effect. Please do not plan for deliveries by truck until after May 1. The barge is finally free from its wintertime project in the boathouse and is available to rent.
Still trying to decipher the latest government shutdown rules. For now the store is still open this weekend. Friday 1 to 5, Saturday 8 to 5 and Sunday 9 to 5. We are taking reservations for the summer season starting with opening the housekeeping cabins on May 21. Reservations are available by phone or e-mail only. Staff will be following the 2020 policy of leaving a day in between reservations to allow for thorough cleaning. We have instituted the necessary guidelines to achieve "Safe Travels," "Post Promise," and "Stay Safe" designations.
A little bit of basic math reveals that this is Limerick Lake Lodge and Marinas 75th anniversary in business. The first thing we are doing is collecting memorabilia of the 75 years. There will be a number of poster boards on display in the boat house near the launch ramp with bits of history about the resort. Other events (like the annual August licensed event) to celebrate are currently being developed.
Lake trout season is open through September 30. Trout between 16 and 21 inches long need to be returned to the lake. The next 2 weeks will be the best time to trout fish this year. Bass season opens Saturday, June 26. Check the zone 15 regulations for more info.
